If you’re determined to learn, no one can stop you, says Rishabh Pant ahead of the Boxing Day Test

With two more Tests remaining, Pant will be keen to get a big score with the bat.

Rishabh Pant has pretty much lived up to the hype surrounding him following his exploits for India Under-19 and in domestic cricket. The youngster, tipped by many as MS Dhoni’s worthy successor, has not looked back since ending this year’s IPL as the second highest run-getter with 684 runs from 14 games. It included five fifties and one century.

An impressive show for India A in England then helped him earn his maiden Test call-up for the series in the same country. True to his reputation, he got off the mark in Tests with a six before scoring a stunning century in the final Test. It was followed by a blistering 84-ball 92 runs knock against Windies in the first Test. The knock paved the way for his maiden ODI call-up. He went on to score 92 again in the second Test before scoring an impressive fifty in the final T20I against the same opposition.

The young wicketkeeper-batsman is currently in Australia for the ongoing Test series. The series started on a great note for him as he surpassed Wriddhiman Saha to become the Indian ‘keeper with the most number of catches in a Test match. Pant broke the record with his 11th catch during the Adelaide Test. He has also shown sparks of brilliance with the bat but has not managed to capitalize on the starts, scoring 25, 28, 36 and 30.

With two more Tests remaining, Pant will be keen to get a big score with the bat. And ahead of the upcoming third Test, Pant posted a philosophical tweet, signaling that he has learned from his mistakes. “If you're not willing to be told … nobody will teach you. But if you’re determined to be told … nobody will Stop you”
