Route 101 West back open in Epping after the deadly wrong-way crash

All lanes of Route 101 West are back open in Epping after a serious crash overnight.

According to a press release, state police received a call around 11:40 p.m. Thursday about a wrong-way driver on Route 101 West. Minutes later, state police saw a serious crash involving three cars between exits 7 and 6.

Investigators say 31-year-old Ryan Kittredge, of Derry, was driving a Dodge pickup truck and made a U-turn on Route 101 West and began driving East on the wrong side of the road. Kittredge then collided head-on with a Chevrolet Impala, killing the two people inside. Investigators say a third car, a Ford Fusion, did not see the cars stopped on the highway and crashed into both of them. The driver of that automotive was taken to the hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening. State police say Kittredge was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries.

Police had a detour in place between exits 7 and 6 but reopened the road just before 5:30 a.m. Friday.
