JioBrowser app for Android users launched; brings regional language support, and more features

Reliance Jio has launched the new Jio Browser app for Android smartphone users in the Indian market. Launched by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) to complement the Jio network in India, the new Jio browser app is available for download on Android devices. The new browser app is claimed to have a "fast and lite" solution for Web browsing.

For Indian users, the Jio Browser app also has support for as many as eight Indian languages. The browser gets an incognito mode and also gets a feature where you can share your news and video content with your friends on social media. The JioBrowser for Android smartphones also gets an additional download manager.

The Jio Browser from Reliance is capable of supporting regional languages. The browser supports eight different languages which include Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. The Jio browser app works in the English language by default.

One interesting feature of the Jio browser app is that once you change your language preference to any regional language from the default English language, the app not only changes the interface elements but also changes the content while also including the latest news stories.

You can also use Google and Facebook in the Jio browser under your regional language preference after you have changed it from the default English language. Also, there is an option to adjust the text size manually.

However, if you are someone who is not interested in changing language preferences on the browser, you can also edit your home screen on the Jio browser app and watch videos on the go.

Similar to the UC Browser the news and video content which is shown on the Jio Browser directly is from Hyderabad-based news content aggregator PublicVibe.

The Jio browser app also gets a favorites tab which lists MyJio, BookMyShow, AJios, Amazon, Flipkart, and NDTV among others. The browser app also has a bookmark option and gets a large search bar on the home screen. There is also a microphone icon which uses Google Voice Search for voice-based search queries.

Reliance has claimed that the Jio browser app delivers a fast web browsing experience. However, this is not the same as Opera Mini fast, which utilizes cached web pages to open web pages quickly during low data speeds, or fast browser experience on affordable devices.

How to download Reliance Jio Browser App

For Android users, you can download the Jio Browser app directly from Google Play. The app is 4.8mb in size and is compatible with almost all Android devices running on Android 5.0 Lollipop and above.
