The answer that won Miss Philippines Catriona Gray the Miss Universe 2018 crown
We finally have a new Miss Universe. Miss Philippines, Catriona Gray was just crowned the winner of the pageant for the year 2018.
The beautiful lady from the Philippines won the title of Miss World by beating contestants from over 93 countries.
The 24-year-old Filipina-Australian became the fourth woman from her country to bring home the coveted title. Miss South Africa Demi, Leigh Nel-Peters and Miss Venezuela, Sthefany Gutiérrez rounded out the top three at the contest, which was held in Bangkok.
Becoming Miss Universe is not just about beauty, it's also about being compassionate, intelligent and an exceptionally good human being too, and this reflected in Miss Philippines' winning answer.
The question put to her in the final round was:
"What is that the most vital lesson you have learned in your life and the way would you apply it to it slow as Miss Universe?"
To which Catriona Gray replied:
"I work a lot in the slums of Tondo, Manila and the life there is poor and it's very sad. And I have always taught myself to look for the beauty in it; to look in the beauty in the faces of the children and to be grateful. And I can bring this facet as a Miss Universe, to see situations with a silver lining. And to assess wherever I may offer one thing; wherever I may give something as an advocator. And if I can teach people to be grateful, we can have an amazing world where negativity cannot grow and prosper, and children will have smiles on their faces."
What a heartfelt and beautiful answer, right? We congratulate Miss Universe on her well-deserved win.
