20 Philadelphia Zoo - Established in 1874, that this is the oldest zoo in the US. While this city is known for being a tourist destination, the zoo is usually not in the small list of sites to visit in Philly. But according to many visitors, it should be. They have a small selection of birds, including bird hunting, cranes and rails, wading birds, water birds and other birds including parrots and pancakes.

19 Sacramento Zoo - This is not considered a big zoo by many people. With a total of more than 400 species of animals, some would actually say that this is a small zoo. As you can expect, their top birds and parrot selection can be considered smaller than some other holiday destinations in this top 20 list. Although there are some species of birds on display that are endangered or threatened, such as American Flamingos, Button Hornbill, Great Hornbill, and Thick Build Parrot. So if you are in this area, then it is worth a day trip.

18 Detroit Zoo - Where is the Detroit Zoo located? A. No Detroit ... Okay, this trick was the question. It is actually located in Royal Oak Michigan. The Detroit Zoo has various types of bird species throughout the park. They are experts in flamingos, storks, spoons, and vultures. They have cranes, barn owls, ratites (ostrich and rich) and many other bird species. The more popular bird habitats in Detroit Zoo are the African Waterhole and the Matilda Wilson Free-Flight Aquarium, which has more than 30 species.

17 Lori Park Zoo - Lori Park Zoo Tampa is located on 56 acres of land in Florida. It was once recognized because of the "number one family-friendly facility within the U.S." (2006). By Child Magazine So kids like it but will be bird lovers? It depends on whom you ask. According to Yahoo Advisor, this site receives only 3.5 out of 5.0 ratings. Most complaints are about price tags because it is "pay as you go". Although not much better, Trip Advisor rates it as 4.0 out of 5.0. According to a special attraction, Spirits of the Sky, Lori Park Zoo is "an interactive and entertaining show that is characteristic of the birds of prey".

16 Oakland Zoo - This zoo is conveniently located near the highway and is tucked into a mountainous forest area. There are dozens of species of birds in the Oakland Zoo from African Pied Peat to yellow-neaped Amazon Parrot. This site receives 4.5 stars (out of 5) on Yahoo Travel. The complaint was only that it was a small zoo. Although it may be small, most visitors agree that this would be a good zoo experience, especially for children.

15 Buffalo Zoo - According to TripAdvisor.com, it is the third oldest zoo in America! And according to at least one visitor, "The Buffalo should be one of Zoo - if not the cleanest and best zoos." Although there is not a big selection to look at the birds, there are some unusual birds that you want to see. These include a Bourke Parrot, Cloncurry Parrot, and (9) different species of Lorries and Lorricks.

14 Knoxville Zoo - Some of you can identify one of the most famous Avian inhabitants of the Knoxville Zoo: Einstein. Einstein and his 'Trainer' have appeared in many television shows, and a quick search of "Einstein" on YouTube will give you some great results. But is Einstein big enough to attract you to the small zoo? Probably not, but at least some visitors and many local people agree that the Knoxville Zoo is the perfect size zoo for a day trip. Also, how can you leave Einstein's home from any top 20 list of bird-related holiday destinations?

13 Louisville Zoo - Louisville Zoo is a large but planned zoo, so there is a plan to revisit something. It is also built on a hill so you will find it difficult to walk, so plan your way ahead of time. One of the main attractions for bird lovers is Loracet Landing, where you feed birds with a cup of sugar (for the fee). Located in the south of Salt Lake City, this Avari is an excellent holiday destination. It is home to more than 500 birds of 150 species and you will get an opportunity to get closer and personal encounter. This should be on the small list of any bird lover's vacation destinations.

5 Parrot Mountains and Gardens - If you are looking for a 'Birds Only' attachment, then this could be your destination of choice. Parrot Mountain is situated... Wait for it... On a Mountain! It is a beautiful exotic attraction which is characterized by many parrot species around the world. It is a complete MUST-SEE according to many visitors. Just be sure to catch your ears around Kookaburra, because it does not eat ears because it is well known for it. Too loud or big for your interests?
